About

"Que Merda é Essa" paraded for the first time in carnival 1995 with the idea of bringing together musicians, singers and amateur composers. The debut samba was a satire on the group itself. The lyrics said: "Minha gente, vamos nessa / É merda no carnaval" (My people, let's go for it / It's shit in carnival!), referring to the musical quality of its components. But the following year, political criticism became the focus of the block, and "Merda" (Shit) became a fact in evidence at the national moment. With plenty of subjects to cover in this carnival, "Que Merda é Essa" is likely to heat up the streets of Ipanema, in the South Zone, during its parade.

Expected crowd: ~950
Founded in 1995
