About
Founded in 2004, the " Cordão do Prata Preta" was born with the objective of reviving the street carnival of the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Its baptism name is a tribute to the capoeirista Horácio José da Silva, who was nicknamed "Prata Preta" (Black Silver). He became known during the “Revolta da Vacina” (Vaccine Uprising), when he mobilized Health residents against compulsory vaccination.
