About

Use public transportation by Metro! Prioritize the CARIOCA station to go to and from the bloco. The oldest carnival block in Rio de Janeiro and one of the oldest in the country, it is the last remaining representative of the old cordões carnivales that existed in the early twentieth century. Traditionally parading in black and white on Avenida Rio Branco, "the largest carnival block in the world" (as it likes to be called), it enchants and asks for passage through the streets of downtown Rio de Janeiro, greeting the public with the marching song famous for its verse "Quem não chora, não mama" (Those who don't cry, don't suck). Among many sambas, the show does not end without first playing the no less famous song "Cidade Maravilhosa" being sung by the large crowd.

Expected crowd: ~700,000
Founded in 1919
