Created by "Oranização Cultural Remanescente de Tia Ciata - ORTC" (Tia Ciata's Remnant Cultural Organization), Ciata's Batuke promotes the culture and the conservation of the Afro-Fluminense historic and artistic heritage. With lots of joy, games, and fun, the revelry takes place during Rio de Janeiro's street carnival and has a family atmosphere. In the block, the “sambistas” are encouraged to dedicate themselves to musical improvement and to research and understand the roots of samba. “ORTC” helps produce each formation of the group and provides support by scheduling their participation in events. The group has had several performances at the "Clube Bola Preta", including at the "Arquivo Nacional" (National Archives). The bateria is composed mostly by women, the "Ciatas do Batuke".
