Founded in 1990, the "Banda das Quengas" is an LGBTQQIA+ block that parades through the streets of Lapa, Rio de Janeiro. The block was created under the command of Juares Moraes and Tbengston Martins, inspired by actress Joana Fomm's character in the soap opera Tieta, whose catchphrase was "quenga". With 32 years of existence and resistance, the group celebrates the best of inclusion in the most diverse party in the world, emphasizing respect for differences and all genders. Because 'quengas' deserve and must exist!
